In October 2023, the Ministry of Education launched a scheme in which the APAAR Card will track students’ educational journeys. Under the National Education Policy 2020, the government also focused on the Credit Based Academic and Skill Requirement framework. The Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) Card will consolidate the students’ educational data in the digital card. The students of the current academic year will be registered in the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) application. Then, the storage, accumulation and transfer of the credit system of each student will be done in a digitalised way.

The APAAR Card will integrate the students’ credits under the National Credit Framework (NCrF). Here, accumulating the school credit, higher studies or technical courses credits with the vocational training or skills will be done. Then, these credits can be deposited by one institution and then they can be transferred to the other institute with the student’s consent. All this process can only be processed if the student is registered in the ABC Bank. The government has authorised the school administration to register students under the One Nation One ID card.
