Haryana TET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

HTET is structured to cater to three primary levels of school teaching:

1. Primary Teacher (Classes I to V)
2. Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Classes VI to VIII
3. Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Classes IX to XII

1. Primary Teacher (Classes I to V)

• Senior Secondary Qualification: A candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks. Moreover, they should have either passed or appeared in the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Alternatively, a candidate with Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and has passed or appeared in the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, by the NCTE regulations, is also eligible.
• Graduation Route: Those with a graduation degree who have passed or are appearing in the final year of the 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education can also apply.

2. Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) for Classes VI to VIII

• Graduation and Diploma: Candidates should have completed their graduation with at least 50% marks. Additionally, they should have completed or been in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Alternatively, graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) is also acceptable.
• Special Note for Mathematics and Science Teachers: Graduates with at least 50% marks and have passed or appeared in a 1-year B.Ed. Specialising in Mathematics and Science are eligible.
• For Social Studies/Social Science Teachers: Candidates should have completed their graduation with at least 50% marks in either Social Science, History, Geography, Political Science, or Psychology. They should also have passed or be appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. Specialising in Social Science/Social Studies.

3. Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) for Classes IX to XII

• Post-Graduation is Key: Candidates aiming for this level should have completed their post-graduation in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks.
• Professional Degree: Along with the post-graduation, candidates should also possess a B.Ed degree from a recognized university or institute.
