IPL 2023 Format

As of last year, the IPL followed a different format than the seasons in the past. Because of having 10 teams in the tournaments, two separate groups were made in which 5 teams were in each group. This was done so that all the teams have to play 14 games in the group stages of the tournament just like every year. It is likely that this same format will be followed in the Indian Premier League 2023 as well.

According to this format, the teams play 2 games with the other four teams in their group. This way they play 8 games. For the rest of the 6 games, the teams play 2 games with their equivalent in the other group and 1 game with the remaining 4 teams in the group. The sorting of teams is done on the basis of those specific teams’ IPL performances. This way, the teams equivalent in the other groups are decided, and accordingly, the games are played.
