When a student, Nupur joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ABVP. She was a part of the student wing of the Sangh Parivar. Her major political achievements began when she won the presidentship of the Delhi University student union in 2008. It was a historical victory as ABVP never won in the last eight years. After returning from London, she became an active worker at the Bharatiya Janata party in 2011. She was included in Delhi BJP‘s working committee in 2013. She was allegedly responding to the trolls and unnecessary remarks on Hindu gods and idol “Shivlinga” when she made an uncalled statement against the Islamic Prophet Muhammed. In the video, she was seen commenting upon the age of the Prophet’s third wife Ayesha, and the consummation of their marriage.
